Curriculum Intent
Our curriculum is designed to inspire and motivate every child, ensuring they are engaged in their learning and make excellent progress. We value each child as an individual—academically, socially, emotionally, and spiritually.
We believe that a happy childhood is the right of every child. Our aim is to ignite natural curiosity through play, exploration, and first-hand experiences. By learning about the fascinating and diverse world around them, children develop a deeper understanding of themselves and others.
A strong emphasis is placed on spoken language, as this is central to children’s cognitive, social, and linguistic development. The quality and variety of language they encounter enables them to expand their vocabulary, reason effectively, and articulate their ideas with confidence.
We provide opportunities for children to develop their ideas, ask questions, solve problems, and take risks. This approach builds resilience, confidence, and critical thinking, helping children to recognise their strengths and prepare for the future.
At this early stage of their lifelong learning journey, our curriculum equips children with the skills to communicate clearly, make connections, and develop effective strategies for learning.
Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural (SMSC) development is woven throughout the curriculum. Children learn to cooperate, share, make friends, and respect one another’s differences. They develop an appreciation of different families, communities, and cultures beyond their immediate experience.
We also teach children to behave safely, understand risks, and make choices that help them feel secure. Through our bespoke programme, Keeping Ourselves Happy, Healthy and Safe, children develop the knowledge, skills, and attributes needed to thrive as individuals, family members, and members of society.
Our central aim is clear: to provide every child with rich educational experiences and opportunities that enable them to discover, grow, and fulfil their unique potential.
